About Us – Torr and Associates

TORR & ASSOCIATES (Pty) Ltd was established in 2016 as a Consulting Civil Engineering Firm focussing on the planning, design and construction implementation of civil engineering services to rural and urban environments in South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa.

The Firm was established out of the extensive experience of Andy Torr (Pr.Eng), the owner and Managing Director, and associated technical staff, over 30 years of projects with the RSA Dept. of Water Affairs, and various reputable Consulting Engineering firms. The firm has since grown in size and now has a dynamic team of associates, engineers and technical staff that have experience in executing small, medium and large projects within the engineering sector.

An underlying objective of the Firm is to provide focussed, value-added service to the Client based on insightful understanding & agreement of deliverables at all stages of product development.

All work done by Torr & Associates is undertaken in terms of the Code of Conduct of the Engineering Council of South Africa, and in accordance with the prevailing Regulatory environment of SANS 10400.

Team Members

Andy Torr

Originally established in 2016, Andy Torr is the founder of Torr & Associates. With years of experience in contract and consult engineering, Andy has worked on many Urban Development Projects, including some of his more recent work with Cotswold Fenns Apartments, Kings Gate Residential Development, Cotswold Retail Centre, Cato Crest & Africa Newtown Urban Housing, as well as Curro High School to name a few.

Craig Shuker

Craig Shuker studied at Stellenbosch University where he obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) degree in 2012. After graduating he worked in the Construction industry for Stefanutti Stocks where he was involved in several high – profile contracts including the N11 road rehabilitation between Ladysmith & Newcastle and Xhora off channel storage dam in the Transkie. He then decided to pursue a career in consulting and joined Torr and Associates in 2017 where he has been involved in several design projects including being the team leader on the Kings Gate Residential Development. He is currently working towards professional registration.

Cuan Armstrong

Cuan Armstrong studied at UCT where he obtained his BSc Civil Engineering degree. After graduating he worked for WBHO Construction where he was involved in a number of high profile contracts including Standard Bank Rosebank and Mall of Africa in Waterfall. He then decided to pursue a career in consulting and joined Torr and Associates in 2018. He is currently working towards professional registration and has a keen interest in the Environmental Engineering sector.
